GUERILLA GRAFFIX: WINS BIG AFTER THE CHICAGO CUBS WORLD SERIES WIN!

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- As the Chicago Cubs make history as the World Series champs, a Rockford printing company is playing its own role in the big win.A big win for the Chicago Cubs also means a big win for local printing company Guerilla Graffix. We've talked about this for years and years and years about this potentially being the merchandise legend and it's panning out to be that way," said Vice President at Guerilla Graffix, Daniel Smithline.

It was a sea of blue inside Guerilla Graphics as employees work to churn out Chicago Cubs World Series championship T-shirts.

While most of us were watching game 7 from home these workers were playing a different game.

"Our game actually started Wednesday morning after the Cubs won game 3. We had a pre-order of about 32,000 units that a customer decided to gamble on," said Smithline. That order worked out just fine for Dick's Sporting Goods as customers lined up to purchase championship gear at midnight after the historic win. Congresswoman Cheri Bustos toured the facility to see the production in the making.

"It's a great part of local history tied into Chicago history," said Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (D) 17th District.

"We've done this so many times you don't really think of the nostalgia of it all up until this one," says Smithline.

Guerilla Graffix typically isn't this busy at this time of year but with the big win they've already printed over 100,000 T-shirts and those orders are continuing to come through.

Guerilla Graffix is the home base for Chicago Nike. The T-shirts will be shipped out to vendors like Dick's Sporting Goods, bars in Wrigleyville, souvenir dealers around Wrigley Field as well as major retailers in the U.S.

LOCAL FACTORY GEARS UP TO PRINT 40K SUPER BOWL SHIRTS

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Now that the Denver Broncos are champions of the NFL, thousands of their fans can't hardly wait to get their hands on some Super Bowl 50 champion gear. That means a lot of overtime for one local factory

"I'll put an order in Monday, ship it by Friday. It's very difficult when you start doing those numbers so we have a tendency not to do a lot of football printing as much anymore,” Guerilla Graffix Operations VP, Daniel Smithline said.

Guerilla Graffix says the NFL’s 2012 switch from Reebok to Nike has changed the way the manufacturer practices for one of its biggest printing weeks all year. Nike doesn't release its final design until just days before the big game which can make the deadline for sending out 40,000 shirts hectic but can also create better opportunities for cities like Rockford to take advantage.

"You can end up having huge amounts of inventory so it's much easier to do those in a different market rather than sending it to one location,” It's a lot of money sitting in house just hoping an order comes through."

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – A Rockford printing company is scoring today by making tens of thousands of champion T-shirts after last night’s big Super Bowl win for the Seattle Seahawks.

More than 100 workers at Guerilla Graffix started bright and early this morning, making nearly 52,000 t-shirts. That’s more than $300,000 worth of clothes, most of which will be shipped to the Northwest to places like Seattle and Oregon. Guerilla Graffix has been contracted through Nike to make winning teams shirts for several years.

“It is kind of cool now you step back and look at it it's something that you get to be a part of a history of some sort, being able to produce some things that are kind of not typical for our industry all the time,” said Daniel Smithline.

Employees say they’ll finish up the order today, however production for the winning teams shirt could last all week, depending on the demand. He says the next big order will be shirts for the NHL finals.
